Short day...

Turns out the readers were ahead of schedule on the portfolios so we did sorting that was planned for tomorrow, today. That means I'm not checking stuff in and out until 4pm and instead I'm at home. Soon I will eat a taco and then who knows.

:-)

and one for you...

Spent a couple hours this morning checking out portfolios to readers. Did some posting for class while I was standing guard. Now just waiting for people to empty out of the classroom I'm in next. One meeting and a class today and then I'm done for the week. Actually, I'll be doing more portfolio stuff Friday afternoon. Not to much otherwise.

Don't you just love sunshine.

Knee deep in references...

Going through some references for research and then it's back to reading. Pretty set one of my two classes tomorrow. The other I have a good chunk to take care of. Plenty of time I think though.

Only one more day...

Two days counting today. I'm pretty ready for this week to be over. Of course, it'll only mean working through the weekend. Today will be pretty busy with research and such. I'm almost set for reading though.

Tuesday training...

On campus earlier today to help out with training. Should be starting up soon.

Monday, September 26, 2005

Today, light.

One of those days. Thinking everything is falling into perspective, but still a tough day. Good talk, email, and chat with friends. And of course a poorly timed book to read for fun; but sometimes you just need to take a break. Training to help out with tomorrow and then it's reading for Thursday. I'm all set for Wednesday.

There are two kinds of light--the glow that illuminates, and the glare that obscures.
- James Thurber (from my roommate's little quote of the day)

Music for my sister...

All set with reading and groceries for the week. Got listening to some radio and then an album I was thinking about earlier and I thought I'd make a little list for my sister. Some the stuff I've posted here before, but other stuff I'm not sure about. iTunes links included when available.

  • The Arcade Fire, Funeral (what I'm listening to now).
  • Destroyer, Your Blues (bought this a couple weeks ago, love it).
  • The New Pornographers, Twin Cinema (wouldn't you know the tickets to these guys & Destroyer sold out).
  • Immaculate Machine, web site (don't know to much about this group).
  • Regina Spektor, Soviet Kitsch (I posted a link to her website in an older post, pretty cool stuff).
  • Boduf Songs, Boduf Songs (I put a little player from bleep.com's web tools in an older post, you can buy the album in mp3 format now; not out until Oct. - trust me I'm not getting paid for this :-).

That should do it for now.

Reading...

I'm set for tomorrow reading wise and I have my stuff for Wednesday taken care of. I could work on some other things, but it would be nice to do something else. Oh, I got shopping done - tacos for dinner this week.

Ahhhh...

Such a close game. Of course that's what happens with the second half doesn't go well. Now what to do for the rest of the night? People going out in a little while. Not sure if I'll go along. Tough to go out after a loss, but sometimes nice. Hey, Michigan may not have won, but michigan state played really well. Maybe USC will get upset; that would be nice.

On to something...

Saturday...

Tough game this afternoon for NC State. The second half turned out better than the first, but it was still a tough loss. Did half of my reading for one class late last night. Did some more before the Michigan/Wisconsin game started. Going to try and get some more done during the game. So full of food though from going to a class mate's house.

Back to football...

Another one?

I was up early and while walking on campus saw many of the front pages of newspapers. You know what, this weather is just crazy. What else can you say? My reading is done and I should be able to send email off for one of my meetings after class.

Research & Reading

Pretty much set for my meeting on Friday. I think I'll go over the list tomorrow before I send it on in email. Next of course is reading for tomorrow. Need to check my class website too. Good working evening. Perhaps even some time to do something else.

Pizza for dinner...

Finished eating and the episode of X-files so now it's time to get back to the ppt. Finished some more reading at the library and got a start on my presentation before dinner. Actually, it's all set just need to put togeather slides. Shouldn't be too crazy of an evening work wise.

Where did September go?

Work wise yesterday went very well. I'll need to stop by the library after class today and then do research tonight, but other than that I'm pretty set. I have to put a ppt togeather for tomorrow, but I wrote up what I want to cover for my presentation so that should be no problem. Looks pretty nice out. It had cooled off a little yesterday, but is supose to be really warm this week. Well, done with breakfast so I should get going.

Sunday night...

Had a dinner of good food and I'm set for tomorrow. Going to get up earlier than normal as I have some things to do. One of my roommates is grabbing bread so the shopping can hold off until tomorrow afternoon. Other than that I should check out what is going on for Tuesdays class before I go to bed.

September is nearly a third of the way gone.

Football Saturday...

Got to see NC State smack Eastern Kentucy, Michigan beat Eastern Michigan, and best of all Michigan State beat Notre Dame in over time. So full of food. Time to try and get some reading in.

Food is good.

Friday out?

That's right, I'll be out with some people from my program for dinner. Took a bit of talking and some speaking up on my part, but people were interested and helped plan. Should be nice. Of course that means other than a meeting today I didn't get as much work done as I usually do, that means until the evening game here tomorrow I'll be working.

What we need is more free speach that is worth listening too. from my roommate's quote of the day...

So late...

Just watched I, Robot - which was really good. Need to get up before noon so I should be fine. Wanted to type up some stuff before my meething though. Other than that should be a pretty good Friday.

It's time to buy a bed.

Thursday morning...

Up, up, and away. No, it's not a bird or a plane. It's waking up in the morning. Some breakfast and email just got the morning going. Two classes today, all of which I finished reading for. A big break in the middle so I can start reading for the paper I need to start. Also should do some more research. Other than that today is long, but not much comes after. Heard from a couple MSU people in the last couple days, that was nice. Yesterday was the first overcast day since I moved here and guess what - it's sunny again today.

I've never seen my shadow so much.

The middle.

Oh how I love the middle of the week. See, that's because I don't have class on Friday. I did have to reschedule a meeting for Friday, but that should be brief. One more book to borrow and read, I hope. Otherwise just reading left for one class tomorrow. This weekend (even as early as Friday) I'll be starting some paper writing.

It's trying to rain outside.

Happy Tuesday...

Aparently I was working to hard yesterday to remember my blog. Did some more research and decided on a different article for one of my papers. Outside of that I'm playing World of Warcraft again. The break from the game has been good; I actually did my work yesterday before playing and then stoped to do more. Crazy, I know. Got an email and a comment concerning the huricane. Technically, it's Tropical Storm Ophelia. From the looks of it we'll be fine this far inland, but thanks for concern :-)

My feet are dry.

Not my week?

Ok, really it is just football but it would have been nice for Michigan to win. Gone through two of the work related readings and I have a good idea of what would be good to look at for the first-year writing faculty. Printed out some other reading and I'm going to start that. Just talked to my brother, which was nice. Talked to my sister and mom earlier. Always good to talk to Heather (sister). Nice to know we can be there for one another even from far away.

I'm not antisocial; I'm studious.

Ahhh Football...

I'm over here pulling my hair out. So much for getting reading done. Come on blue. I'll just have to be good and not watch all the games on this evening.

Mmmmm pizza.

A walk to the store...

Went to the store earlier to pick up snacks for a movie at home. One roommate home to watch National Treasure with. My other roommate is out of town for the weekend. The movie is done; it was pretty good. Going to try and do some work, but I may just end up relaxing. Sure is nice to slow down some. I hope everyone is enjoying their friday.

Jump, and you will find out how to unfold your wings as you fall. Ray Bradbury

My arms...

I thought I was too old for shots. Good thing NC State will let me stay here if I start to get my immunizations done while I look for records. The next place to look is High School and good old umich. Started some reading, but am really ready for a nap. Really nice outside.

No sleep, 'till brooklyn. Do you know that song? I bet my sister does.

Thursday night...

Had some popcorn and watched a movie with my roommates. They were kind enough to stick with the movie rather than conversation, which I'm not feeling up to. I'm listening to the podcast stuff I started working on last week. I think it's about set. I need to take care of the enhancement stuff, but that's not to bad. Figure I'll take care of that and then it's off to bed. A good bit of reading to do tomorrow, but not as much as last week. Oh, can't forget to pay bills and all that. Such fun.

I am becoming who I will be.

T minus fifteen minutes...

Class starts soon. I have some of the reading done and plan to catch up this weekend. Should have a little time to prepare for my meeting this afternoon after class is done. I worked on my podcast last week and it's pretty close to done. It's crazy how long it takes me with all the other work going on. The good thing is that I found out about all the podcast PSAs for Katrina Relief.

Bubbles- ephemeral and so transparent- An Enigma; Edgar Allen Poe

Bed time...

So sleepy. Got most of the reading done. Figure I'll get some sleep and finish up tomorrow before class. Need to think through some stuff for a meeting tomorrow also.

Where fog trails and mist creeps, Lost; Carl Sandburg

Class discussion...

I led class discussion today and it went really well. My favorite part is structuring and then just sort of seeing where things go. Very exploratory. Our instructor did a great job of coming in when there was room for more structure or direction. Helped me to sort of get a sense of how I might point things in a direction without dominating conversation. Another nice day outside and plenty of reading to do. So I think after I go by apple's website to check out new product details I'll be doing reading.

Are we becoming who we will be?

Reading soundtrack...

So I'm done with reading for the night. I still have something I need to see if I can borrow from one of the people I share office space with. But while I was reading I was listening to dailysonic (see the link to the right) and heard some music I wanted to share. The first is Regina Spektor whose website you can find a flash radio to listen too. The second you can listen too below.

Today, sunshine.

If there were a morning when I noticed the sunshine it would be today. Very welcome, that sunshine. Some reading for tomorrow's class was cut so that's nice. I'll need to run by the library to get one of the books from reserves to read. Still one broken set of web links for my other class reading. Yes, it looks like reading is today's word.

You should click on the little Next Blog link up top. It's a good read.

The Rose Garden

Took a walk to the rose garden by my house after having dinner with my roommate Alex. Took a couple pictures and even had a chance to draw and do a podcast.

Labor day...

I'm using the holiday to write. I could just be still sleeping and not really have revisions for my thesis taken care of. Two or three things I want to add, but other than that I feel like I'm in a good place. At this point who knows. It is really nice outside so I think I may go to the rose garden. It's like a block from my house. I've been there before and I had wanted to go get my colored pencils and pad of paper to draw. Might be a nice change of pace.

Attention: roommate cleaning house.

Sunday afternoon...

Should be heading out pretty soon. Some tailgating before another football game. Meeing up with my roommate and then heading to church to watch the game. They are calling it football church. Other than that I think I might try and get some reading done. If not, tomorrow will be a really big work day.

Long weekend makes more time for work and play.

Football Saturday...

So strange to be this far from my football team - go blue. They did win, but it isn't the same when you don't get to watch. Maybe I can find a place to watch next time - just don't know way around well enough. All done with one book and an article for one class. Figure tomorrow I'll start the stuff for tuesday and the do writing on Monday. At least a little holiday and some more football tomorrow. So strange to have a game on Sunday to watch. Talked to my sister and parents. That was nice.

One license Plate...

So I made my first trip to the DMV today. More than one hundred dollars later and I now have a North Carolina Plate. It was sort of sad to take my Michigan plate off. I have to go to a different place to take the test for my driver's license. That will have to wait until next Friday. Two chapters done and one to go in the reading. Figure I'll get that done tomorrow.

This just in; one safety deposit received less a $35 charge for a moldy refrigerator.

Bank account check...

Well another trip to the library early this morning yielded mixed results. I did find the book I started reading for class next week, which I'll be presenting on. However, the library doesn't have everything set to do voice recording. I did have a good conversation with the guy that runs the place.

In other news, I now am the happy owner of a credit union account - savings and checking - I guess that is accounts. Now it'll be easier to pay bills. Oh boy right.
