2006?
Yeah, so I went M.I.A until the new year. Made it through my first semester of PhD school and the end of my MA stuff. An interesting time to say the least. Got to visit winter in Michigan over the break. It's cold in North Carolina, but not really winter if you ask me. Well, I think technically it is. Classes start tomorrow and I think I may just be ready to go.

Tuesday Music/cisuM yadseuT
Was up early for some more immunization stuff. So while I wait for class I've been listening to dailysonic. Among some of the music was a particularly wonderful album. Here are some iTunes liniks to the two albums from CocoRosie.

Sleepy...
All set with most of my work for tomorrow. Now I'm ready to go to bed. Ah yeah, other than school work not to much going on here. Waiting for pay day, but what's new. Night, night.

Finished at the library...
Just finished some reading from reserves at the library. Don't you just love when you have to go some place to borrow a book you didn't have a chance, or money for that matter, to buy. Suriously, I get better work done and the chairs here are pretty comfortable if you find the right ones. Some more stuff to read once I get home. I've already read one of the things in a previous class, even presented on it - how nice is that. Think I may be working with a classmate on the same thing Thursday, but I'm not sure. Have to check email about that.

Reading, check...
All set with my reading for tomorrow. I finished the rest of the book were using in one of my other classes this weekend, so I'm good for Wednesday too. Have a phone meeting in the morning on Wednesday also. So with work done I'm all set to go to a hockey game tonight with my roommate. Should be lots of fun.

One proposal down...
So I'm set as far as my proposal goes. Now the big question is if I should prepare a presentation for tomorrow. For class the website just says "Students may be asked to provide demos of implementation projects or to lead disussion on their mid-term papers." I think I'm fine leading an improv discussion, but it would be nice to get some warning about who is dong what. But hey, there isn't any reading so that is nice. Time for assistantship stuff.
Middle of the week...
So it took me a bit to post again. The good news is reading for class is set for all but my computer science class. This evening will be working on that and stuff for my job. More stuff from Apple today.

Not so lazy after all...
So I ended up reading a chapter for class. Not to bad, but I do think it is time for bed now. Figure I'll wait until Tuesday to decide if I have time for fun other than sitting still between big batches of reading and writing.
Now sleep...

Done...
So it turns out I did twice the research I needed to. Only needed six things for my review rather than nine. There would have been no way to get the paper in under 15 pages otherwise. Happy to be done. Thinking I should do reading for class, but I might just decide to be lazy the rest of the evening.
nonlinear poetry
After a few 'next blog' clicks I stumbled on to nonlinear poetry. On the way to it I've decided that by random chance (or however blogger's 'next blog' thing works) there must be many people in Australia who blog.
Some pretty cool images to say the least. Time for bed now. One of my room mates just started a movie, the other is out. It would be nice to do something other than type, but sleep calls.
Why a morning of typing?

Why do I care?
So it's almost 2 am and I've finished the first part of the second section of a paper that is due tomorrow (technically today) at 11:45 pm. Kind of funny, for a computer science class so we get to turn it in online. I think the system works for all the classes, but I'm not to sure my other professors will be using it. Anyway, so I had a moment where I thought I'm not to bad at this research and writing thing. It is possible that I'm not to good at it as the whole thesis exploding has proven. However, I still like the process and think I'm not to bad at it.
Sort of time to realize that being a student is my job. For a long time I thought learning could sort of be something I could do with my life. But you know what? Life is full of learning, but the kind you do in school - if you stick with it - is really more like a job. See every job I've had there are times I enjoy and times I don't. Right now, I don't know. I do care, but I'm not sure why. What I learned from bagging groceries, however, is that if you keep at it you will figure it out.
This time I can't transfer to the Outdoor Garden Center.

Busy bee...
Been pretty slack in posting recently. Big paper I'm working on at the moment has taken up most of my spare time. Some amazing football today, but only one of the three teams I wanted to win made it. It's actually pretty crazy, both MSU and Notre Dame looked like they had the game under control. Michigan came back in the last second, literaly. Guess that's a lesson that every moment counts.
Not just in football.

Research & Dinner
I've found some more articles for a literature review I'm doing for class. All done going through the abstracts to narrow down the articles. The bibliography is ready and I have all the pdfs downloaded. Now the reading begins, oh and there was time for dinner too.

3 x 5
Just ran into this blog as I was logging out so I could get to class. Really good read and relevant.
postcards...
Well, I have some of the postcards ready, but have to wait until tomorrow to send them. I forgot my postcard stamps here so just brought the cards back with me to send. It has cooled off a ton, but it's actually kind of nice as I love fall.

and yet more rain...
Not a fun drive, but the good news is that I made it back home. Spent most my time in museums, which wasn't too bad. Needless to say next time I plan a trip I'll be paying more attention to the weather channel. But hey not a bad trip and I got to see at least one of the people I had wanted to catch up with. Next drive I make will be back to Michigan for Christmas. Until then, I'm staying in state. Plan to fly back for Thanksgiving.
